Set up in three steps
Install
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New and search AI FAQ Schema. Install and activate.
Add the block
Open any post, add the FAQ Schema block, and paste, type or generate your FAQs.
Check and publish
Click Analyze, fix what it flags, then publish. The schema is added for you.

Do I need an API key?
No. Pasting FAQs, quality scores, FAQPage schema, llms.txt and crawler control all work without a key. You only need an OpenAI key for Auto Generate and Fix with AI.

Is it really free?
Yes. AI FAQ Schema is free on WordPress.org under the GPLv2 license. The only possible cost is OpenAI usage, and only if you add your own key for the optional AI features.
Will this help me get cited by AI search?
It gives AI engines clean, self-contained Q&A plus valid FAQPage schema, which makes your answers easier to quote. It does not change your Google keyword rankings directly, and no plugin can guarantee a citation.
Does Google still show FAQ rich results?
No. Google retired FAQ rich results from Search in 2026. The schema is still read by Bing and AI assistants built on its index, and it helps any engine understand your page. That is why this plugin focuses on AI citation.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain-text index of your pages and latest posts, served at yoursite.com/llms.txt. It gives AI tools a quick map of what your site covers. Support varies by tool, and Google has said its search does not use it. The plugin builds and updates it for you. If you already have an llms.txt file, the plugin leaves it alone.
Can I block GPTBot but stay in AI search?
Yes. Training crawlers (like GPTBot and CCBot) and search crawlers (like OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot) are separate bots. You can block training bots and keep search bots allowed. Everything is allowed by default.
Does it work with Yoast or Rank Math?
Yes. It adds its own FAQPage schema and works alongside other SEO plugins. Just don't turn on FAQ schema in your SEO plugin for the same page, or you'll have it twice.
Does it work with the Classic Editor?
No. It is a block for the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg). It needs WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.0+.
